The Netgate® 6100 with pfSense® Plus software is one of the most versatile security gateways in its class. It combines the power of an Intel C3558 Quad Core CPU with integrated (QAT) QuickAssist Technology & AES-NI and 8 GB of memory for a snappy user experience, delivering over 18 Gbps of L3 routing across 8 independent 1 GbE, 2.5 GbE, and 10 GbE Flexible WAN/LAN ports. The 6100 is capable of performing high-throughput firewall, routing, and VPN applications. Netgate 6100 MAX is a serious firewall appliance for people who want control rather than convenience. It's fast, silent, and flexible, making it an excellent fit for homelabs, power users, and small businesses. The hardware is reliable, but getting the most from pfSense+ requires networking knowledge—it's not a plug-and-play router. If you enjoy building and managing your network, it's one of the best investments in its class

This is my second Netgate 6100 appliance, and it's absolutely fantastic for a small business network. It allows easy segmentation of networks, which is important for security. I also have a site-to-site VPN using OpenVPN (but other options are also available), and road warrior VPN. It does take some serious effort to get it working property, but it really depends on your skill level. It's a powerful device, and in the hands of an IT inclined user, it's a marvel. If however you know nothing about networking and only need Netflix to work, there are much simpler and cheaper options out there. Netgate 6100 is excellent, and I absolutely recommend it to anyone with a small business needing moderately complex networks with VPN and top security.

Netgate 6100 Max

Received the Netgate appliance, quickly after ordering (I paid for expedited service) literally two business days- excellent. I purchased the rack mount and the device was fully mounted in the rack tray on delivery. I was able to setup the 6100 and have it running in our test lab with in 30 minutes. Referring to the on-line instructions we were operational with our rules and vlans with-in 48 hours, despite having no prior knowledge of pfSense+. Great product, value and service!
